A friend gave me his DVD/Surround Sound system when he moved. I have it hooked up using Audio Out on the TV (just the red & white doo-hickeys...plugs?) and Audio In 2 on the DVD player, but I'm only getting sound out of 2 speakers and the sub. I'm using an RCA cable. The sound is really low coming from the SS as well. What am I doing wrong? I also have a satellite dish reciever hooked to the tv, but that's all

  1. I don't know if I understand you correctly.  Is this DVD/surround sound system all contained in one box?  You should have it set so the sound system plays the audio directly from the DVD and not from the TV.  If you use the TV audio using the red and white connections you will not get surround (5.1) sound.

If the DVD player and sound system are separate components, then you will need to hook up the digital audio output of the DVD player to the digital audio input of the amp in order to get surround (5.1) sound.

  2. i think you should see your DVD if it is 5.1 or  2.1 channels,

5.1 channels segregates the sounds differently,

the voice, base, instrumentals, and etc... has supplied to 5 speakers.

2.1 channels can run only sub woofer and 2 speakers
