DVD cannot be played due to wrong region code??!!??

ok, here's the deal, I'm form the U.S. but we currently live in Europe and have German DVD players and laptops with German DVD drives so I bought DVDs in Germany and played them, and I played U.S. DVDs also which was not a problem, I just had to change the region code. But now, my laptop tells we can't change the region code any more which means it's now just a European drive playing European DVDs. We have plenty of U.S. DVDs we REALLY wanna watch though and we don't know what to do because nothing in this house will play them any more.. Is there anything we can do besides buying a new laptop?? Please, all advice appreciated!! Thx!

You get to make up to five changes before the region code is locked down by the firmware of the dvd rom drive. I can advise you to this website where you can find more information and software to bypass the problem:
