Which cable gives a better clarity the composite-cable or component cable?

Can I use the normal a/v cable[composite-yellow,white,red] cable for connecting the component video input to TV?Will it cause any fault to the TV?

Can we get 1080p high definition with component cables?

  1. Component video connections are better than a composite video connection.  However, even component video will only give you up to 1080i resolution.  If you want full 1080p rez, then you will need to use an HDMI connection.

  2. The only difference between a composite and component cabe is the coloring on the ends and composite is a little thicker (like the size of the yellow composite cable).

If you want to save a little money, use the composite cables, but make sure you use the yellow color coded cable in the Green output of your tv. Any other combination will cause a very distorted picture.

1080p must be supported by your tv and the video being played.  all the "p" means is progressive (lines on the tv are drawn 1,2,3,4... instead of 1,3,5,7...then 2,4,6,...)  Please read my answer#4 on the address below.

  3. Component is better.

yes, you can use a composite + red/white cables as component cables. Just make sure they much each end.

Most TVs will only support 1080p via HDMI and maybe VGA. To tell the truth there is no source to output 1080p via component. Even upconverting and HD players will only output 1080p via HDMI.

  4. yes you could but would need the right adaptions. But you picture quality will suffer due to a three channel colour input to a one channel
