DVD player not working properly

My DVD player is not working smoothly offlate, the dvd often skips or gets stuck. Also, recently said disc error for a dvd that i was able to p
play on my laptop..Have run a cleaning disc once... any other solutions? The model is Philips DVD *** Video Casette Player
