My dvd player lately has problem with burned movies. When i watch a movie from time to time it freezes for a few seconds then it resumes. Could it be the disc or the player might need cleaning? When i put the same disc on another dvd player it plays fine.

  1. It seems like a tracking problem on the DVD player. Such freezes or skips are earlier seen on 'burnt' movies but later they might appear on other discs too.

    Some suggestions for the player:

Sometimes such errors disappear on their own.

In case it has not been in use for a long time, use it more frequently.

Give it for repairs if the problem keeps happening, say for over a month.

Try keeping your player in a dry location, away from extremes of tempratures.

If nothing works out, then it's better to buy a new one. Repairs can be expensive and might not give results as good as a new one.

  2. Both should be cleaned regularly and they are NOT all the same, as you have found out.  If the tracking on the player is not exactly the same as that on the burner, this can happen.  I've been told that can be adjusted, but I won't try it.
