Question:

DVD player problems?

So I have this standard-def DVD player (I know, I know) but the thing seems to be broken. Sound only comes out of one side of my TV - this is not a problem when watching TV normally. Besides that, the colors are all distorted when I try to watch a movie. This is not a problem when I watch the same DVDs in another device, such as on my PC.

The manuel references a white cable, but I only have a red/blue/green colored ones. What's the problem?

Could anything else be wrong other than a bad DVD player? Maybe faulty component cables?

  1. it's probably the cables. it's not the colors that are important, as long as they correspond properly. (ex: white goes with green at both the tv and the dvd player..). A/V cables are cheap, and you might even have another set of them lying around the house. try them out and see if it makes a difference.
