DVD region problem ?

i am living in India, i want to buy few national Geography DVDs from Amazon as it is not available in india. but it gives me warning that

(Your order contains at least one Region 1 (Canada and U.S.) encoded DVD. Region 1 DVDs might not play in DVD players sold in the country where this order is being shipped. Please also note that some Region 1 DVDs contain a Regional Coding Enhancement. Some of our international customers have had problems playing these enhanced discs on their “region-free” DVD players )

what is this problem and will it run from my dvd player ?

you can convert and copy a DVD to another DVD on your computer using a NTC converter.....a program that changes the format of the movie to the new format that your using in India....check your current format.

I had that problem in Mexico (Region 4) with Region 1 DVDs that I brought from the states.  Check to see what Regions your DVD player will run.  I now have one that plays both 1 and 4.  The manual that came with your machine should have that information.  The players don't recognize DVDs from other regions.  Have no idea what this "enhanced" thing is about.  Good luck!!

All DVD's have a region code on them which will only allow certain DVD's to work in certain DVD players all over the world. India has a DVD region code of 5 so any DVD that is not a region 5 DVD will not play in your DVD player. I f you go to this website (I know, it's wikipedia) it does help!

i had this same problem.. i was over in germany.. and i had a box set from amazon of a tv series... it would play on the universal dvd player, but not the german one. if it is a new, universal player you should have no problem... i think some of the old ones don't work in specific regions. i dont think there is anything you can do about it except get a international player.
