Hi, i have a dell dimension 9150 and installed windows vista home premium last night, it all worked fine but then for some reason neither my dvd-rom or cd-rw would work, you can here them spin the disk but nothing happens, i tried updating drivers in the manager thing but it says these are the best drivers but cannot load anything. The drives are a TSST corp CD-RW TS-H292B ATA DEVICE and a SONY DVD-ROM DDU1615 ATA DEVICE and windows just says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" but ive tried re installing, updating windows and as i say they did work when i first put vista on yesturday but now they don't. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME A VISTA DRIVER FOR THESE PLEASE! BTW IM ON SERVICE PACK 1 VISTA HOME PREMIUM, thanks.

  1. Optical drives don't use drivers - try taking the cover off & disconnecting one of the drives, to see if they work individually.

In a Dell, the drives usually come jumpered as 'cable selst' rather than 'master' & 'slave' - this can cause problems.

One of the drives may genuinely have gone faulty.

  2. Run chkdsk, it restores missing and currupt files

  3. there aren't drivers for your DVD and CD drives those are programmed right onto the hardware you will probably need to buy new ones they aren't very expensive. Vista is not ment to be used with old hardware
