DVD to AVI - Whats the best free program to do this?

Question

trying to take a few of my dvds and "rip" them (i think the term is) on to my comp in avi format. how do i do this. anyone please and thankyou. I appreciate your answers.

I would use DVD Decrypter to decrypt to the hard drive (these are raw MPEG-2 files that are not what you want). Then use Handbrake on the VIDEO_TS folder you just copied. If you want to do it on the fly use DVD43 to decrypt the DVD and then you can use Handbrake directly on the DVD contents.

EDIT: Didn't you say "FREE"? Why are people suggesting paid solutions hmm...? That "Free Download" is only good for a trial period then you have to pay $35. These are all freeware - no pay, no ads, no spyware, ever.

Use handbtrake(free)

or aimersoft dvd ripper, I use it for a long time, it can easily convert dvd to other video audio formats with high quality, that's really nice, you can check them out here for free
