About a month ago i burned 3 movies to dvds and my computer worked fine. Now when ever i try to burn or write anything i get this message.

"Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file, what do you want windows to do?"

I have tried 3 different types of dvds Sony, melody, Verbatim none show up in "my Computer".

Im running Windows xp media center edition version 2002 sp2.

And to be clear i have a DVD+R/RW drive and have done this before on this computer.

i dont have a dvd burning software but i didnt have one before.

I tried a lens cleaner also, and no luck.

I tried updating the drive and they are updated.

And when i put in a blank dvd there is a humming noise coming from the drive.

CDs do work and i can copy pictures and such on a cd or cd rw.

BUT NOT DVDS PLEASE HELP

  2. I had this problem, but then I used NERO, a programme to burn stuff to DVDs and it works great. I recommend it.

  3. use nero 8.0

  4. i would suggest trying to get a burning software and give that a go if it doesnt work i have no idea i would guss your drive is on its way out or you could take off the case and check the wiring something could of came loose sounds stupid but it could just be something like that
