Question:

DVDR and Comcast Digital Cable?

How can I record movies and shows from my Comcast Digital Cable? I have a Phillips dvd recorder 3475 and sometimes it tells me I cannot record certain programs which stinks because the ones I'm trying to record aren't available to purchase anywhere. I'm only looking to record things that aren't available on a store bought dvd. Such as old movies (the ones I want aren't available and probably never will be) and a couple of shows on demand that also aren't available on dvd either. I have two rca cables. One goes into the OUT plug on the digital box and IN to the dvd recorder. The other cord goes into the OUT plug in the dvd recorder and IN to the tv. And then I have my tv turned to AV3 which is through the input button on the remote. Is there another setting I can use to bypass the errors? I want to be able to watch this stuff in my own room which doesn't have digital cable. If at all possible I could record these to my vcr if need be. I just want some kind of copy so I have it.

  1. It sounds as if there is copywrite protection built into the box.  Try to bypass the box.  Buy a cable splitter and some good cable....

However....this means you will not get premium movie channels...the tuner on the dvd can decode channels 1 - 99.  good.

What you might try is:  Box to TV.... then run a cable from the tv outlet spot to the DVR inlet spot instead.

    good luck.

  2. Hi icepixi,

Look at this device. It gets rid of copy guard. I think it would work for you -
