Question:

DVI monitor and DVD player with HDMI output?

I'm thinking of buying a flat screen monitor ( 22"+) for watching DVDs on, and as a PC monitor (which i have no problem with).

I know AV-VGA is a pain so ive looked into DVD players with HDMI output and plan to get a monitor with DVI input, i know there is HDMI-DVI cables available and would use these.

Would this sort of set up work?

Also what about audio?

These are the items i plan on buying

  1. this set up will work just fine. you will, as the other poster noted, need audio cables. the upconversion on that dvd player should give a nice clean, clear image or you screen. dvd movie watching will be enjoyable for you.

  2. Em currently working with 22" LCD from LG - using its DVI-D to link with my Philips HDMI DVD player and hook the audio output to Teac Digital AV receiver using coaxial cable enjoying the 7.1 channel.

My cable source is Atlona from www.atlona.com

  3. DVI does not support Audio, so you will still need audio cables, but the HDMI to DVI conversion should be fine.
