DVR for Cox Cable question!?

I have Cox cable in las Vegas, I purchased a new 1080p 50" plasma tv and was wondering if I can buy a TIVO/DVR cable box and get all of the same channels I have in my other room? They will rent me a dvr for $12 a month but I would rather buy a cheaper tivo/dvr player. will i be able to just buy a tivo set off ebay and get all of my channels in my room?

You'll have to order HD service from Cox.  So the only question is which DVR service is cheaper for HD.  IF you get a separate DVR it has to be HD to get HD to your tv.
