The sad part is that this happens way to often. What can we do to help prevent this stuff? I would like to be part of the solution and not just point fingers anymore.

Any realistic ideas? (Keyword: REALISTIC)

  1. If women were as choosey in picking men as they were in selecting a cantaloupe, there would be less spousal abuse and child abuse.

One thing that attracted me to my husband of 46 years was how he treated his dog when we were dating.  He had this golden retriever, and he took such good care of him, regular vet visits, brushing, bathing, and if the dog dug holes, he filled them in and planted grass seed.  He was always patient with his dog, and always spoke to him softly.

The thought occurred to me that any guy that was that good to his dog, would certainly be good to a wife and kids.  And, I was absolutely right!!

  2. It's hard to really find a solution. You don't need a psychiatric exam before you have a baby...unfortunately...and the nut cases can have children without any interference from anyone.

Social Services seems to drop the ball in too many cases of abused children...and from what I've seen of a lot of social workers, they aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer themselves!

This is a problem that has gone on, unfortunately, as long as there have been people. The breakdown of the close-knit family group probably does not help.

  3. *sigh* how about the woman in PA that stole a baby from another woman's womb??!!  this "dad" might've had mental and/or drug problems.  the way you were brought up; environment, family, peer influences, etc can also play a role in how a person might behave later on. i believe in our public schools, we not only need to teach s*x ed but parenting skills.  Also, what is lacking in our public schools and in our society in general is the proper way we should treat another human being, and i'm not talking about just good manners.  We don't practice nor preach compassion, empathy and remorse to ourselves and others.

  4. Here is my theory.  We used to blame the women for unwanted pregnancies and of course that blew up in our faces.  So instead we now have free love and no one is held responsible except the woman who gets stuck with the baby and the cost of raising it.  Of course this is a nasty trap and the woman spend as much time looking for a man with an income rather than a partner.  Men (and many women) don't want to raise someone else's child so the anger and resentment build up.  In the case of parents killing children the same thing is true society has dumped a lot of regulations on parents and made them feel like the kids aren't theirs.  Children have become things rather than precious lives to protect and nurture.

    The answer?

Teach our sons and daughters about the power of their bodies and how prescious life is.  And the parents of each child should be equally responsible for the care of the child.  Not dad on weekends and mom the rest of the week.  The whole child care and rearing system needs to be shaken up.  Any man that has more than three children by more than one woman should be convinced to Sterilize himself.  Any woman with more than three children by more than one man should also be convinced to get sterilized.  But before these people get that far they should have had to deal with educational programs to help them get self esteem, medical protection from diseas as well as pregnancy prevention, and job training.  They need to be given the chance to be responsible.

It boils down to women keeping their panties on the men keeping their flies zipped.
