So, about 5 years ago, my dad had spots removed on his lungs. It wasn't cancer. It was caused by an old infection in his lung. So recently the doctors found another spot embedded into his left lung. They have done an MRI, CT Scan and a Pet scan. They said his lymph-nodes are clear and all of his test have come back negative but he has to go in for a biopsy friday. He is gonna need to have the spot removed and they need to remove a piece of his lung. I am worried that it is cancer. What else could it be?

  1. You said they caught it early so it is treatable. He can live for a long time if they treat it right away. Cancer caught early is not a death sentence.

  2. Other than cancer, these can be caused by infections such as tuberculosis, histoplasmosis, or coccidiodiomycosis, various fungal infections and beinign (not cancer) tumors.

Overall, 60% of these spots are non-cancerous
