Her parents and my dad's father all died of lung Cancer, yet she and my sister continue to smoke heavily.

  1. Suggest Chantrix to her.  It is supposed to make quitting smoking much easier for heavy smokers.Quitting smoking is tremendously hard.  It just is.  No matter how  many treatments that have been developed, it['s just tough to fight that addiction- and she sounds heavily addicted.

As for your dad, if he has quit, it will show up on his respiratory function studies.  I'm surprised that the docs taking care of your dad haven't talked to your mom about the effects this can have on his chances as well as on his overall health.

  2. nicotine screws up your dopamine receptors ...  it is excruciatingly hard to quit, especially during stressful times ...  google some smoking cessation forums and look at their suggestions ...  these forums are people who have quit or in the process they have alot of information and can give better advice as a group than most idividuals on here ...

it would be ebst if you could get them both to smoke outside for his sake ...  not seeing firsthand how much exposure he has, I can't tell you  if it will show up in his bloodstream ...  you could express your concerns to your father's doctors, maybe he/she/they might be a useful resource with your mother and sister ...

I'll edit in a bit when I find some links ...

  3. She definitely realizes how hard it is for him to quit - she is unable to herself.  At least she goes outside or to another part of the house.  She has a lot of stress right now too.  Try to be understanding.

  4. I would say your best bet would be to talk to every one at the same time and bring it up to the table .

You know if they are going to listen or not but its your best shot if they can not respect him in his condition then he or you need to make different arrangements They need to respect his condition and deal . they should if they Love him....

I know I lost both of my parents to long cancer and all I can say is be the best person you can to your self and him you can and that's all you can do .

PS do not give up they will probably come around if you stay on them!

Good luck Best wishes for your Dad
