Question:

Daewoo Freeview Box - Subscription??!!!?

I purchased this box for my elderly father, some 5-6 years ago, from Tesco. There is now a screen message advising that the service is no longer available because the subscription has expired and that he should call Setpal for a "lifetime subscription" for £4.99. He is obviously keen to pay this fee to restore his tv programmes, but I believe that once the not inexpensive purchase price had been paid, there is no other "fee" necessary. Can anyone advise please?

  1. Check out the link below.

It seems that a transmitter upgrade has caused the failure of about 100,000 Freeview set-top boxes, including those made by Daewoo.

You may need a need Freeview box - they start at about £15 these days.

  2. hi  annette i did not think there was subscription for a free-view box . i have freeview box i have a box for free if you want it .

  3. Sounds like a con, the clue is in the name FREEview box, once you buy it you shouldn't have to pay anything else contact Tesco or buy a new box they're not expensive these days. Although I don't think you should have to.
