Daewoo won't read remote

Question

I have an old, secondhand Daewoo TV (I can't find a place on it that says what number it is) that won't respond to the remote. Or my brand new universal remote bought to replace it. Both remotes have fresh batteries, and according to that camera trick I just found here, the remotes are actually sending a signal. The TV just doesn't seem to be getting that signal. I've made sure that nothing is blocking the little recieving dot and have tried different distances between the remote and TV.

Please help!
