Dai Walters reveals his horse is likely to take part in the World Hurdle
Dai Walters, owner of Oscar Whisky, has revealed that his horse is likely to take part in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at Cheltenham on Thursday, March 15, 2012. This means that he might miss the Stan James Champion Hurdle.
The seven-year-old horse has had a terrific career until now, as he has managed to win nine out of 12 races he participated in.
His record in hurdles has been pretty impressive, and he will be one of the favourites to win the event at Cheltenham.
Despite that, Walters has not come up with a final decision, and claimed that he will wait for the result in the Welsh Champion Hurdle before finalising anything.
He added:
“We'll see what happens when Oscar runs in the Welsh Champion Hurdle on Saturday week. If he breaks all records there, who knows? But as things stand it's 60-40 that he'll take on Big Buck's. I hope he has a proper test at Ffos Las.”
Oscar Whiskey, trained by Nicky Henderson, will be the favourite to win the William Hill Welsh Champion Hurdle on Saturday, February 4, 2012. He won the same event last year, and seems to like running in hurdle races.
Henderson will be expecting his horse to perform well throughout the season. He has been doing a terrific job with Oscar Whisky, and will look to continue the winning combination in the coming races.
The veteran trainer has been working hard with a few other horses as well, and will be expecting them to deliver positive results in the current season.
Another one of his trained horses, Binocular, will also be preparing hard for the World Hurdle.
Binocular will take part in the Sandown's Contenders Hurdle in order to prepare for the big event at Cheltenham.
The eight-year-old horse will be likely to end up on top, as he has been victorious on the last two occasions, but his main aim will be to win the World Hurdle.
Apart from the above two horses, Grandouet and Bobs Worth, will also be taking part in different hurdles this February.
The latter will be making a comeback after recovering from an injury. Both these horses are also trained by Henderson.
