Daigreen looking to cause an upset in Paschal Corrigan Memorial Handicap
Daigreen will be looking to cause an upset in the Paschal Corrigan Memorial Handicap at Galway in Ireland on Monday, September 10, 2012. Things will not be easy for him, but almost all of his opponents have been struggling for form in recent times, which
will give him an opportunity to win the €5,520 event.
A total of 15 runners have been attracted towards the 1 mile 100 yard event, which is scheduled to start at 16:35 GMT. The going has been described as yielding to soft, which will not be a major concern for any of the participants today.
Out of all the runners, Mama Sox is the only one who is carrying the winning momentum right now. She does not have a very good record overall, but did an impressive job in her previous outing. This was her maiden victory, but the conditions were ideal for
her back then, as rain had affected the track.
However, things will be completely different today and the punters will need to be extremely careful while risking bets on anyone. They can consider a couple of options like Choisilady and Cairduil, but should go with Daigreen at the end of the day.
The reason is that he does not care about the conditions and can outshine his opponents, if everything goes well for him. His recent form has not been bad at all, thus he will be full of confidence at the moment.
The three-year-old gelding made his debut in 2011 and took part in three races that year. His performances were lacklustre back then and he was no way near to his rivals in any of those events.
However, the Ms Joanna Morgan’s trainee came out with a positive intent in 2012 and managed to improve his overall record. He struggled in the opening race of the season, but got better with the passage of time.
The Irish runner won a couple of back-to-back races in different conditions, which proved that he was not dependent on the nature of the track. He lost some momentum in his previous race though, finishing fifth in it. However, he has the ability to bounce
back once again under talented jockey, Pat Smullen.
