Daigreen with explosive chances in the Fairyhouse Apprentice Handicap
Nineteen entries in pursuit of the €5,520 prize money have gathered for the mile and two furlongs Fairyhouse Apprentice Handicap on Monday, 24th September at Fairyhouse. Quite a number of entries have not raced at the track before, and are deprived
of any significant successes since a while. One of the reasonably accomplished entries is the three-year-old bay gelding, Daigreen.
The Irish bay gelding was active five times during the new season, and has been able to strike success twice. The beginning of his new season could not have been worse than the last position that he ended up in the Navan Chairman Handicap on 29th
April, 2012 at Navan over six furlongs.
The race was won by, Little Village, who had Leigh Roche riding.
Almost as if settling all accounts with the miserable loss at the opening of the 2012 campaign, the Ms. Joanna Morgan trained struck a back-to-back.
The three-year-old won the Burleigh Accountants Handicap on 13th August, 2012 at Ballinrobe race course. Guided by the riding expert, Pat Smullen, he tracked the leaders, and ranked fifth by the time half the track distance went down.
He took over the fourth position with the final two furlongs on the horizon. The remaining trip was filled with unexpected challenges as besides being over ridden, the rider lost grip of the whip just before the straight, and the duo put in all the possible
effort after that, winning by the respectable margin of 1 ¼ lengths.
King’s Best’s next winning destination was the Friends Of Western Alzheimers Handicap on 28th August, 2012 at Ballinrobe over a mile and a furlong.
Entered as the undisputed favourite, the bay gelding was paired up with jockey, Pat Smullen, once again. They defeated Hurricane Sky by the margin of two lengths.
The last two outings saw him finishing fifth and then second.
The distance that he has to race over today is not completely alien, however it will be his first time at Fairyhouse. Daigreen will break from the fifth gate in the field of nineteen contestants, and will become the mount for the famous riding sensation,
Colin Keane.
