My 21 yr old son met a German female student during a university exchange in Asia. She is coming to stay with us in USA for 2 weeks.

In Germany, what do they "generally" eat for breakfast (milk, cereal or toast as in USA?), lunch (sandwich?) & dinner (steak, pork, pasta, brocili?)

What kind of meat (beef?), vegetables and fruits do they generally eat?

  1. well when i was in germany i was often given traditional cured meats for breakfast etc

but i do really think when you have a visitor from another country they really appreciate their hostess's dishes from their own country so they can experience traditional foods from their destination country

  2. Whatever you normally eat. She can get plenty of German food at home.

  3. i lived in Germany for 6 months. they generally eat quite large but fairly healthy breakfasts then each meal after that is slightly smaller. i say that as my German friend came over and she was so surprised by the tiny breakfasts we have and small lunches and was starving by the end of the day. then she was shocked that we eat a large dinner at night!

also in Germany a lot of pork is eaten, stuff like beef and chicken was quite dear. they eat alot of fresh veg and fruits.

however everyone is individual despite what their countries usual eat (most English don't eat fish and chips everyday :D)

if i was going to the US I'd want  to try everything and everything that normal folks ate, i would expect you to cook English food for me and would prob be disappointed if you did!!
