If the topical medications like benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid aren't working, I'd consider seeing a dermatologist. I had persistent acne for a long time before I finally went to a specialist who cleared it right up. Zinc isn't proven to do much of anything as far as I know.

The dermatologist might prescribe antibiotics and more powerful skin cleansers if the over-the-counter stuff isn't working for you.
