Daily life in Athens Ga?

Question

We are moving to Athens Ga at the end of this month. We've found an apartment on Prince Avenue. Neither of us drive a car. We do walk and use public transportation. So, what kind of good shopping , free events and other stuff do we look forward to finding when we get there? I realize this is purely subjective.
