Experts only: I am making a dairy-free chocolate cake, which I will then be covering with white fondant. Would you recommend this recipe for the icing as the crumb-boat?

I also have a recipe for chocolate icing, but I am afraid it will be too dark for the covering - but then again, the cake itself is also dark, so will a simple glaze suffice? Does fondant really need all that icing?
