Daisuke Matsuzaka is yet to return in the Major League – MLB News
The Boston Red Sox skipper Bobby Valentine does not think that Japanese sensation right hander Daisuke Matsuzaka is ready to feature in the Major League before getting his health condition right. There is no doubt that Matsuzaka is very talented, the real question is whether or not he is ready to take on the stress and challenges of the Major League.
Matsuzaka, who was arrived in the Red Sox in 2007 for a bigger and brighter future in Major League Baseball, still has not got lucky enough to play in the majors for a longer period.
Though he has played in the past for the Red Sox, but the last year’s Tommy John surgery is keeping him at bay from playing in the Major League instead, he is feeling quite confident playing in the Minor League.
Red Sox manager Valentine recently said in the media watching Matsuzaka playing for minor league Triple-A Pawtucket where he played relatively good. He explained in detail for his rehabilitation process and the chances he has to play a Major League game in the coming future.
“I didn’t think he was good as he should be, His mechanic wasn’t very good at all, I didn’t think. But he’s throwing pain-free, Right now, he’s worried about his strength and his ability to endure pitches, He’ll take another step. I can see it being done a couple times through out of necessity, A lot of it is routine.” said Valentine for Matsuzaka.
He added with more details, “Breaking routine is difficult for most. And six days (rest), usually you have to throw twice in between, and it changes the days they lift their weights, changes the days they’re in the training room. We’re all creatures of habit.”
Matsuzaka is a good player and knows his chances to play in the big league. His career 4.25 ERA in the MLB is far better than any current Major Leaguer. On the other hand, his overall 49-30 win-loss record along with 568 strike-outs and 1.40 is also considerably good the amount of experience he possesses.
