If you are pretty sure that you want to fire such an antique piece (I myself have not been able to make my mind to do it with my vintage squirt guns), what you should do is as follows: pull the trigger completely in order to creat a vacuum in the chamber, then submerge the the tip of the barrel into the water and release the mechanism, this will load the gun. I would recomend that you see that it is completely dry before your store it, otherwise the mechanism could rust!!!
