I just got a Daiwa Megaforce reel from d**k's Sporting Goods and it's a little squeaky. Any house hold item's to fix her up? Vaseline is what I heard before.

  1. OMG!!! No, do NOT use vasoline on reels, especially spool bearings. I advise you use reel oil and reel grease, and a little goes a long way. Oil for bearings, and just a drop or two. Grease for other moving, internal parts.

Quantum "Hot Sauce" is the baddest lube for reels, but my TD Zillion "burner" came with its own spool bearing oil.

If you haven't torn into a reel, and want to use Vasoline, maybe you should stick to the Zebco 33. :D Just kidding, but please NO Vasoline in reels. YIKES!

What are the brakes set at on the side, try 5-6, and see if the tension control k**b, on the right by the reel handle, is too tight for starters.

    Good luck!
