Daiya Seto clinches Men’s 200m butterfly gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Daiya Seto of Japan clinched gold medal of Men’s 200m butterfly on day one of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Doha, Qatar on Saturday, October 6.
Seto, who dominated the playoff of Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) earlier at the championship, spoiled the party of his opponents by capturing gold medal of the distant butterfly discipline.
Seto faced strong battle from his toughest competitor, Chad le Clos of South Africa and emerged on the finishing blockade for gold medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 51.30 seconds.
The champion was followed by le Clos, who stayed just 0.01 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and touched the wall for second position by producing a time of 1 minute and 51.31 seconds.
The silver medalist was followed by Thomas Shields of USA, who stayed one and a half body length behind and transpired on the finishing blockade for bronze medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 52.72 seconds.
Subsequently, fourth fastest spot of the race was followed by Chaosheng Huang of China, who stayed 0.58 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 58.30 seconds.
Huang was followed by Ivan Ricobelli of Argentina, who remained nearly nine seconds behind and emerged on the wall as fifth fastest swimmer by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 07.38 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was secured by Jamal Al Suwaidi of UAE, who remained 5.02 seconds apart and appeared on the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 12.40 seconds.
Al Suwaidi was traced by his teammate, Omar Al Hammadi, who was 1.45 seconds behind and concluded his race in seventh place by posting an effort of 2 minutes and 13.85 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Khaled Abdlla Ismael, who was considerably slower from overpowering his former finisher and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 19.27 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, Seto expressed happiness over his victory in the 400m event and stressed that he would try his level best to continue the same in future.
