Daiya Seto conquers Men’s 200m IM title in Stockholm: Day two – 2011 FINA World Cup
Japan’s Daiya Seto continued to impress Stockholm’s crowd with his wonderful performance at the 2011 FINA World Cup series, in Sweden, on Sunday, October 16. The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 200m Individual Medley final.
More importantly, Daiya Seto was up against one of her strongest contestants, South Africa’s Chad Le Clos in the final meet. Both swimmers have had equal chances to clinch the battle, but it was Japan’s athlete Seto, who took over the 200m IM title by posting
a nerve wrecking time of 1 minutes and 54.65 seconds.
Meanwhile, Chad Le Clos secured silver medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 54.93 seconds. Le Close was the winner in 200m butterfly race at the 2010 World Championships, in Dubai. Additionally, he won two gold medals in 200m butterfly and 400m IM
meets at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, in Delhi. Furthermore, he was the victorious in the 200m IM race at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, in Singapore.
The bronze medal went to Daiya Seto’s compatriot Hidemasa Sano with a mark of 1 minute and 55.01 seconds. Meanwhile, Sweden’s Simon Sjodin picked fourth spot in the respective race with a time of 1 minute and 56.80 seconds and Australia’s Kenneth To settled
for fifth place with a time of 1 minute and 58.07 seconds.
Moreover, Yuma Kosaka of Japan went on to secure sixth position by submitting a time of 1 minute and 58.17 seconds and Kosaka Yuma’s compatriot settled for seventh spot with a time of 1 minute and 59.74 seconds. Last, but not the least, Great Britain’s Lenis
Coleman picked eighth place with a mark of 2 minutes and 02.08 seconds.
The stunning performances of all athletes inspired the hearts of Stockholm’s arena and the top three swimmers were honoured with medals and cash prizes after the session’s completion. The 2011 FINA World Cup is a vital series for all young athletes to prepare
themselves hard for their futuristic meets. The next round of the World Series is set to take place in Moscow, from October 18-19.
