Daiya Seto earns Men’s 400m IM gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Daiya Seto of Japan earned gold medal of Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on day one of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Doha, Qatar on Saturday, October 6.
The Japanese star showed no mercy to his opponents in the distant IM discipline and overpowered his competitors in a ruthless manner. He stayed in a prominent lead over his opponents and surfaced on the wall for the title.
Seto remained more than a body length ahead of his following swimmer and cruised his way towards the finishing wall for gold medal by producing a time of 4 minutes and 02.51 seconds.
The champion was followed by Hungarian veteran, Laszlo Cseh, who stayed 1.20 seconds behind and made his way to the medal rostrum for silver medal by touching the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 03.71 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Chaosheng Huang of China, who stayed almost four body lengths behind and tapped the wall for bronze medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 07.58 seconds.
Huang was chased by Weijia Liu of China, who stayed nearly 10 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer by producing a time of 4 minutes and 17.84 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Sheng Jun Pang of Singapore, who was almost four body lengths apart and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 21.47 seconds.
Subsequently, Pang was followed by Omar Pinzon of Colombia, who remained 4.45 seconds behind and completed his swim in sixth best place by producing a time of 4 minutes and 24.91 seconds.
Pinzon was traced by Aiman Al Kulaibi of Oman, who stayed almost half a minute slower from his former finisher and made his way to the finishing end for seventh position by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 51.08 seconds.
Agnishwar Jayaprakash of India did not swim in the playoff and failed to secure any position.
In addition, Seto was overjoyed with his gold finish and articulated his desire of continuing the same in future events.
