Daiya Seto grabs Men’s 400m IM gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Daiya Seto of Japan grabbed gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on day one of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday, October 13.
Seto dictated terms to his opponents in the distant IM discipline and surfaced on the wall for the crown. He faced tough competition from Laszlo Cseh of Hungary throughout the race but with his impeccable pace, Seto managed to earn his way to the finishing
wall for gold medal.
His gruelling effort remained marginally ahead of his following swimmer as he tapped the wall for gold medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 00.85 seconds.
The champion was trailed by Cseh, who was 0.16 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 01.01 seconds.
Third spot of the race was obtained by Gal Nevo of Israel, who was almost seven seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 08.32 seconds.
Nevo was followed by Henrique Rodrigues of Brazil, who stayed one and a half body length behind and surfaced on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by posting a time of 4 minutes and 09.67 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Thiago Simon of Brazil, who was 2.37 seconds slower and touched the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 12.04 seconds.
Simon was chased by Renato Barufi of Brazil, who stayed 3.09 seconds behind and secured sixth position of the event by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 15.13 seconds.
Similarly, Barufi was considerably ahead of Linus Kanth, who remained prominent for seventh place and touched the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 19.86 seconds.
Last position of the race was obtained by Viktor Bromer of Denmark, who was 1.60 seconds slower and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 21.46 seconds.
Furthermore, Seto was delighted with his undisputed effort in the 400m discipline and said that he will struggle hard to defend his title at the subsequent stops of World Cup.
