Daiya Seto secures Men’s 200m breaststroke gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Daiya Seto of Japan secured gold medal of the Men’s 200m breaststroke on day one of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Doha, Qatar on Saturday, October 6.
Seto demonstrated his commendable efforts in the distant breaststroke discipline as he sprinted his way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With his notable efforts in the eight-lap discipline, Seto enjoyed a full body length lead over his closest competitor and earned gold medal of the discipline by touching the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 04.87 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Marco Koch of Germany, who stayed 0.85 seconds apart and finished second in the event by touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 05.72 seconds.
The silver medalist was followed by Sean Mahoney of USA, who stayed almost half body length behind and completed the podium by securing bronze medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 06.23 seconds.
Mahoney was chased by Neil Versfeld of South Africa, who stayed 0.30 seconds apart and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder by producing a time of 2 minutes and 06.53 seconds.
Similarly, fifth position of the race was followed by Anton Lobanov of Russia, who remained 0.25 seconds behind and made her way to the finishing wall by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 06.78 seconds.
Sixth spot of the event was obtained by Glenn Snyders of New Zealand, who remained three body lengths apart and emerged on the finishing end by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 09.47 seconds.
Snyders was traced by Chaosheng Huang of China, who stayed 0.06 seconds behind and completed his race in seventh place by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 09.53 seconds.
Huang was trailed by Riaan Smit of South Africa, who stayed nearly 12 seconds behind and hit the wall for eighth position by ending his swim in a time of 2 minutes and 21.32 seconds.
In addition, Seto received massive appreciation from the audience for his stupendous efforts and said that he would try hard to continue the same in future.
