Daiya Seto seizes Men’s 400m IM gold – FINA Swimming World Cup, Tokyo
Daiya Seto of Japan seized gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on opening day of the seventh stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Tokyo, Japan on Tuesday, November 6.
The Japanese star smothered hopes of his opponents by dominating the playoff of the discipline. With his immaculate efforts in the distant IM discipline, Seto remained in a remarkable lead over his following swimmer from the start.
He continued his gruelling efforts from the start and tapped the wall for gold medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 00.02 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Yousuke Mori of Japan, who was 6.92 seconds slower and tapped the wall for silver medal with an effort of 4 minutes and 06.94 seconds.
Mori was traced by Kousuke Hagino of Japan, who was 0.76 seconds slower and surfaced on the wall for bronze medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 07.70 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by Takeharu Fujimori of Japan, who was 0.73 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by submitting an effort of 4 minutes and 08.43 seconds.
Fujimori was traced by Naoki Nakatani of Japan, who suffered a loss of nearly two body lengths from his former finisher and tapped the wall for fifth place by reporting an effort of 4 minutes and 10.26 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the discipline was obtained by Travis Mahoney of Australia, who was 1.05 seconds away from surpassing his former swimmer and ended his swim in a time of 4 minutes and 11.31 seconds.
Mahoney was followed by Ryo Murakawa of Japan, who stayed 2.21 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 13.52 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Sou Kuranuki of Japan, who was only 0.08 seconds slower and posted an effort of 4 minutes and 13.60 seconds.
In addition, Seto was overjoyed with his undisputed effort in the discipline and articulated that he would try to defend his title in future.
