  1. He's been in hospital having tests. His doctors say he's suffering from exhaustion.

  2. Why? What's your theory?

  3. I think he realizes that after the Olympics, there's less attention on China, as well as Tibet now.

  4. Art of War obviously believes the lies about the Tibetans that the Chinese government tells him. The rest of the world knows the truth about the vicious and evil practices of the Chinese towards Tibet. One million Tibetans murdered, cultural genocide with hundreds of temples destroyed, bringing in hundreds of thousands of Han Chinese to dilute the Tibetan presence and so many more things

It is an absolute disgrace that the Chinese try to portray the Dalai Lama as an "evil person". They are not fit to even say his name. I wish the Dalai Lama well and hope to see the day in which he and his people have their land rightfullly returned to them.

  5. His religion tells him to stop and think about it later. D L is campaigning for Tibet but the success of Beijing Olympics 2008 created the positive effect for China. China is on bright side now and the effort of world trip would be dwarfed.

  6. who cares about Dalai.

does he run faster than Bolt or swim faster than Phelps?

  7. Eric S must be believing all the fabricated junk thrown around in the Western Media.

I appreciate your sense of justice, but the truth is you gotta realize Dalai Lama does NOT represent all Tibetans! The religion he represents is not the ONLY religion in Tibet, and just like any other religious conflict around the world, Dalai Lama played a role in the oppression of other religions in Tibet.

As in all political conflicts, it's hard to say who is bad guy and who is the good guy. But if you have been to China and met Tibetans who live in China, you will know that the Chinese government has a policy that grants a range of concessions to ethnic minorities from education to health care. The infant mortality rate and life expectancy of Tibetans had significantly improved compared to when Dalai Lama was in power.

Finally, if you think about it.  Could the sort of freedom Dalai Lama is advocating for today have existed in Tibet, when the head of state in Tibet was both the political and religious leader? There is no one who can hold him accountable for his policies because he is effectively the GOD.

  8. He's old. He's tired of traveling around deceiving people to think autonomous region is what he wants but in reality he wants to be king again just like the day before Mao took over. He wants to live in luxury as he has when he gets to Los Angeles and stars and celebrities invite him to Ritz Carlton Hotel with the best suites. He wants slaves to honor him.

[[Eric S]] You told the white lie of the Tibetan propaganda of thinking that China killed 1.2 million Tibetans during 1950-1959 needs to have their eyes gouged. This tells me that you are pathetic as so many extreme Tibetan nationalists.

1.2 million Tibetans been killed has been blown out of proportion:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/22/opinio...

Prof. Barry Sautman’s 2001 paper “Is Tibet China’s Colony?: The Claim of Demographic Catastrophe” published on Columbia Journal of Asian Law. It has an impressive long list of references (332 in total!) from all types of sources: Da-liar Lama’s, newspapers, books, academic studies, etc. And it does an in-depth analysis on these references.

From non-academic side, I’d provide you two sources I read recently below (in Chinese). Both people had experience from Tibet. Again, I do not backup their figures:

Mr. Britex Xu, a Chinese scholar, was banished by the Chinese government to Tibet during 1982 - 1986, and becomes a firm criticizer of the Chinese government. He did a study on many Tibet issues in his book “Himalaya” (http://www.tangben.com/Himalaya). In Section 2 Chapter 8 of the book, he compared the population increase between the whole China and Tibetan during 1949 - 1983 using the data published by Tibet Gov. Exile, western scholars, and western historical records. His conclusion is that the population increase of Tibetan is significantly larger than the increase of the whole China if the Chinese government had killed 1.2 million Tibetan. This is impossible given the fact of harsh conditions in Tibet. He suggested that the actual number of Tibetan being killed should be less than 200,000.

In the same chapter of the book, he referred to an estimation by Ngapoi Jigme, an advocate of Tibet independence and the Director of Tibet Division in Radio Free Asia (rfa.org) since 1996. Mr. Jigme admitted that the number of 1.2 million is largely exaggerated. The actual number he thought is about 300,000 - 400,000.

    =====

YOU to say that "I believes the lies about the Tibetans that the Chinese government tells me." is a slap to the faces of the true Tibetan activists who are willing to pursue their cause of honor without deception and lies.
