  1. http://tibet.org/

basically the chinese took over in 1950, deciding that tibet was always part of china, which really isn't true.

since then they have been destroying tibetan culture and religion.

the dalai lama was driven out in 1959, in fear of his life.

since then he has been trying to raise awareness about what's happening there. he doesn't want to be a separate country, he just wants china to leave them alone, let them practice their buddhism in peace.

he is a tibetan buddhist monk, which means he is committed to non-violence.

the issue in israel is more complicated.

basically, jews and arabs were living in the middle east. after ww1, England took over much of the region. the region was called palestine. it wasn't a country, but a region of the middle east.

it was divided into 2 countries, jordan was created for the arabs who lived there, and israel was created for the jews that lived there.

the United Nations voted to create israel after the world failed to help the Jews of Europe in WW2.

from the beginning, the arabs have been opposed to the existence of the jewish country. they haved started several wars over the years, and could never destroy israel. so they started forming terrorist groups as a way to fight israel.

in 1967, there was a war, and israel took over gaza and the west bank. gaza was a part of egypt and the west bank was a part of jordan, but after the war, those countries said they didn't want the land anymore. since then, israel has been trying to make peace with the arabs living in those regions, but so far they have been unable to convince the arabs to allow israel to exist in peace. many terrorist attacks have occurred and israel has to defend itself, and sometimes innocent people are hurt. israel does that by accident, though, whereas the terrorist groups are intending to kill civilians.

the 2 situations are very different.

tibet was a separate country for centuries, with a unique language, religion and culture.

there was never a country of palestine, and palestinian arabs are no different than jordanian and egyptian arabs in terms of language, religion and culture.

but most importantly, the palestinians have chosen to make their point through terrorist violence, and the dalai lama has chosen the path of non-violence.

  2. China occupied Tibet in the 1950s, and Tibetan ruler Dalai Lama fled his native country in 1959, to India, where he resides today. The fight for free Tibet continues...

    About the second question:

  3. All in common about Freedom and rights in simple language and a bit further simple political game of personnel interest*

  4. For Dalai Lama, I'd suggest a simpler way - check some key words from an encyclopedia or from online: theocracy, monarchy, slavery, serf(a kind of slave) owner, incarnation of Budhisattva(a kind of god).

Would you accept such a person to be your life-time ruler? You may then understand the conflict and what is good for Tibetan people. It's that simple.
