What did yall think of Paul Menard grabbing the pole at Daytona?

What are your thoughts on Martin Truex and the impound of his primary car? Who do you think will drive for Dale Earnhardt Inc in 2009?

Thank you all for answering. Much Appreciated. Have a good night!

  1. I really didn't expect paul to get the pole...i suspected the usuals, jeff gordon, dale jr, somke...great job by 15! that was shocking to hear that about truex's car...nothing like that has happened in a while, i don't really have anyone in mind that i think would drive for DEI...i think with aric, truex, smith, and mendard (possibly, i heard he might go, probably just rumors) i don't think they need anyone else, smoke would be cool to watch there...my best guess on who's going to DEI would be Casey Mears!!! him and mark would kinda be switching rides, except casey would have a different number than the 8 b/c of almirola

the stable from DEI in 09:

    01: Regan Smith

    1: Martin Truex, Jr.

    8: Aric Almirola

    15: Paul Menard

Some other number (lol): Smoke or Casey Mears!!

again it's hard to tell if menard will still be at dei, he probably will b/c i havent' really heard anything else about him leaving....rumors are coming from everywhere about the silly season, so hard to tell....

  2. When I seen all those DEI cars starting up front I was actually thinkin how happy you probably were. I knew you had to be happy for em and it was awesome that Menard got the pole. That's an underdog story, huh? All this time that you've stuck behind them at least paid off through qualifying this week. They looked strong in the race, too, but a couple misfortunes hurt them on pit road. I'm proud of what they were able to do and it looked kinda like the DEI of old, and I'm sure you were goin crazy.

Martin Truex - Well that situation wasn't any good, and pretty much will eliminate his chances at making the chase. At the very least I'm sure it will make him more determined to give it his all as the season winds down.

I think that Casey Mears has a decent shot of going to DEI, but I'm completely unsure. I don't think anyone expected Jr. to go to Hendrick till the last minute last season, so it's all up in the air for now. If anyone goes it will probably be Mears or McMurray, though.

Congrats to DEI on the impressive showing at Daytona!

  3. I think the DEI drivers next year will be Menard, Almirola, Smith and Mears

I don't like how strict the penalty will be because I feel it is unfair to Martin.  However, I do feel they will need to show some consistency with it and they are going to hammer him unfortunately.  :(  That doesn't mean I agree with the whole way they are handling the COT infractions.

  4. I seriously didn't think Menard could get the pole, he really surprised me! So that was wow.

The impounded car made me... hmm it just seemed that the simple roof problem could've been avoided so, they may be slacking just a bit. But I felt so bad for Truex, he was really upset and I felt horrible

  5. I think it was good for Paul Menard's career getting a pole. He showed some muscle in the race. The fines and points deduction are going to hurt him bad when the deadline to chase nears. As far as who is going to be at DEI next year its anybodys guess right now. Rumors are flying off the wall.

    Have a great night also!

  6. DEI will have Almirola and someone like Jamie McMurray next year if the management stays the same.

There may be a change in ownership. If that happens look for Tony Stewart, Menard, Truex and Almirola.

  7. Eric Almirola, will be in the 8 car, full time next season. it was good to see Menard, get some of the action for a change.

  8. Paul Menard did two things in Daytona that I thought he'd never do: win a pole and run in the top 20 for more than a few laps. I'm not being a hater, I just never thought he'd get it done. Until his interview I didn't even know what the guy actually looked like. He was kinda cute.

  9. Paul Menard was the only guy to avoid that big crash in lap 16 a couple races ago, that took out Tony Stewart and a few other guys. And he did'nt need a spotter to tell him what to do. Some other drivers could learn from that.  Paul Menard looks like he's getting a little more agressive, and he's making himself noticed. I think it would be cool if he keeps charging hard. And NASCAR better not dock Truex any points. His roofline didn't match up to the template!  As far as Mark Martin leaving. Cya! Thanks! The #8 car should be driven by just one driver, and if Almirola can control himself, he looks like an excellent candidate.  And as far as the #01 goes. If every team had one car that was a "field filler"...  i wonder who that's gonna be at HMS
