Dale Miles nails Curtis Woodhouse via fifth round technical knockout – Boxing News
Dale Miles, the former British Masters welterweight champion, defied all odds and grabbed an impressive fifth round technical knockout career-boosting win over fellow countryman Curtis Woodhouse, in a 10-round bout held on June 8, 2012.
The ring for the bout was set up at Magna Centre, Rotherham, Yorkshire, United Kingdom and the Friday night showdown was organised and promoted by David Coldwell of Coldwell Boxing.
The above duo headlined the pay-per-view and was basically a British light welterweight title eliminator bout. The night was co-headlined by the non-title six-round bout between Navid Mansouri and Nathan Graham.
Dale, 27, was entering in his 14th career bout and boasted 12 wins. The young Briton has nailed nine of his opponents by knockout and has collected just one loss in his young career.
Interestingly, Miles was a bit low as he was coming from a third round technical knockout loss to Tyrone Nurse and therefore was entering the ring with a bit intimidation for his opponent Curtis.
Curtis, 32, was entering in his 20th career bout and boasted 16 wins. The Yorkshire proud is also a decent knockout pounder and has nailed 11 of his opponents by sheer knockout.
As far as the odds are concerned, they were somewhat in favour of Curtis as he was entering the ring with more experience, a better win and knockout ratio and above all was coming from an emphatic and quite intimidating win over Gary McArthur.
The bout kicked off and from the very first second the whole crowd got shocked at Dale’s agility, footwork, impressive pugilism and above all resilience. Miles really stunned Curtis with all his force and might and did not give the orthodox even a split
chance to loosen his arms over him.
The iron-heart of young Dale can be judged from the fact that despite receiving a deep cut over his left eyebrow, Dale continued pummelling Curtis vehemently so much so that the experienced Yorkshire proud lost his senses at two minutes and 26 seconds of
the fifth round.
The referee intervened and finally announced Dale as the winner of the bout. With this win, Dale has not only proved that he rightfully deserves a better position in the rankings but has also received his career’s 13th and 10th knockout
win. Curtis, on the other hand, has collected his fourth career defeat and first ever by knockout.
