Dale Sveum thinks Chicago Cubs are playing well – MLB News
The Chicago Cubs’ manager Dale Sveum commented on Monday, March 12, that the team has played well this Spring Training apart from the few mistakes that are not fundamental. Currently preparing the team mentally and physically for the upcoming season, Sveum
seems to have greatly impacted the outlook of the Cubs.
“If you harp on it enough it can [change]," Sveum said Monday. "We've been pretty good so far, had a few hiccups on the bases [Sunday]. Thank God those things happen in a Spring Training game and not during the season. Those weren't really fundamentals.
Those were just kind of human [mistakes].”
If the past few games of the Cactus League were to be followed and analysed, the Cubs are indeed a different team now compared to what was witnessed in 2011. It comes across as an amalgamation of ever eager and committed individuals exerting to redress what
went wrong in the past.
Dale Sveum, who was previously associated to the Milwaukee Brewers as hitting coach, has helped transform the club a great deal.
However, much as the Cubs undergo this transition, Sveum appears invulnerable to the sentiments or criticisms that invariably and inevitably come when someone leads a team like the Cubs. His entire focus revolves around the game and how the Cubs perform.
"I don't do anything like that now," Sveum said, "so I'm not going to start. I got better things to do than seek out articles on me or the team."
The fact that he is a manager whose attention never gets distracted by the usual and unusual hype surrounding the game substantiates that  he intends to fundamentally alter the outlook of the team, making it a winning side.
So far the journey has seemed quite smooth. It is with the passage of time that things will become clear as to what lies ahead for the Cubs. For now, the Cubs are putting a good display in the Cactus League. It will be exciting to see how the Cubs progress
through Spring Training as the team has a completely new outlook and all of the changes during the offseason can have a valuable impact on the team as they head into the arduous regular season.
