The Liverpool boss, Kenny Dalglish has finally conceded that he should have handled the situation involving Luis Suarez’s racial slur against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231, in a better manner.
The Uruguayan footballer was slapped an eight match ban for racially abusing the Manchester United player. His manager and team mates backed the striker after the incident and even wore T-shirts in his support, in an away match against Wigan Athletic in
December.
The episode took another ugly turn in a Premier League match between United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 at Old Trafford. Suarez, who had earlier agreed that he would shake hands with Evra in the pre-match ceremony refused to honour his promise.
The incident resulted in a row between the two players, and the match officials were forced to intervene to diffuse the tension.
Both Suarez and Dalglish were forced to tender an apology to United, after the club’s American owners took notice of the conflict.
However, the Scott admitted that he had handled the situation wrongly, and the incident could have been dealt in a better way.
“If it ever happened again, and I hope it wouldn't, it would be done completely differently,” the Scot said.
“If I have done something wrong, I'm not shy in saying I have done something wrong, and if I can do something better I will try and do it better. I think everybody can look at themselves and say 'I could do things much better', and that's what I'll try and
do, I certainly hope I wouldn't do things any worse."
When asked to comment on the Reds league performance in the current season, the 61 year old conceded that his side had failed to meet the expectations of the fans and the owners. He mentioned that the criticism meted out on his team was justified.
Dalglish also highlighted the fact that Suarez’s suspension in the second half of the season had cost his side dearly.
“You will never know how much the situation affected us,” he added.
Even though the Reds have won the Carling Cup this season and qualified for the FA Cup final, the Scott felt that true success will only be achieved when the club gets readmitted into the top European competition.
Liverpool are currently placed 8th in the league table, with their chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season, all but extinguished. However, the Reds will aim to salvage their current season by winning the FA Cup, and will take
