Former Liverpool manager, Kenny Dalglish, has accused Brendan Rodgers of taking undue credit for Raheem Sterling’s development, claiming instead that the Ulsterman’s predecessors need to be praised for the youngster’s recent form.
The 17-year old has caught the attention of the media and the football pundits since the start of this season. Despite the Reds poor start to the campaign, the juvenile winger has been in sublime form, securing starting berths in consecutive league games
against Manchester City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
The Anfield boss, Brendan Rodgers, is known to be a huge admirer of the Reds starlet. He has already unravelled his intention of giving him more starts this season, in order to further hone and polish his abilities.
Sterling was brought in at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 in February 2010, for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of 600,000 pounds. He is reported to have joined the QPR youth academy at a tender age of 10.
Many believe that the winger is set to blossom under Rodger’s supervision this season. Even though Dalglish was all praise for the fledgling on his remarkable form off-late, he refused to accept the notion that Rodgers had anything to do with it.
He insisted that the QPR academy and Benitez deserve more credit for the player’s development, and lashed out at the Northern Irishman for taking undue credit for his progress.
“It’s funny the amount of people who are jumping on the bandwagon and claiming credit for Raheem Sterling’s development now after they’ve worked with him for a couple of months,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“The people who deserve the credit are the people who worked with him at QPR, Rafa Benitez, who brought him to Liverpool, and the people in the academy at Liverpool who have furthered his football education”
The Scott then went on to hail the talented footballer for having matured at such a young age, and feels that he deserves to be a part of the starting eleven.
Sterling has already made 5 professional appearances for Liverpool this season.
