http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss, Kenny Dalglish believed that the Reds eighth position in the league is not what they truly deserve, and was satisfied with his side’s accomplishments in the domestic English cups.
The Merseyside outfit finished the table at the eighth position, following their abysmal run since the start of the year, which saw them secure just 4 wins out of their 19 league games.
On Sunday, the Reds signed off from the 2011/12 season with yet another defeat against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, which consigned them to their lowest league position in almost 18 years. The defeat also enabled their local rivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 to finish
ahead of them for the first time since 2005.
The 61-year old admitted that his side’s Premier League campaign has been a failure in terms of securing results, but maintained his stance that they deserved a better position than eighth, keeping in view the fact that they had created multiple opportunities
in front of goal in the entire season.
Liverpool have remained a victim of bad fortune, hitting the frame of the goal more than 30 times in all competitions this season, more than any other team in the Premier League.
While talking to reporters, Dalglish said: “There have been some positive things but there has been the disappointment of performances not being matched by results - but we will just carry on.”
Even though Liverpool suffered a lamentable run of form in the league, they did manage to leave their mark in the cup competitions. The Reds ended their 6 years title drought in February by winning the Carling Cup and finished runner-ups to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the
FA Cup.
And despite missing out on a Champions League place, the Reds League Cup triumph meant that they will take part in the Europa League next season.
The Scott believed that his side’s achievement in the cup competitions goes on to show their true calibre.
He continued, “In the league they have not got what they deserved for their performance, and in the cup ties we've only lost so that's that bad.”
Dalglish also drew comparison between the Reds current season with the previous one, pointing out that the club was in shambles when he took over the management from Roy Hodgson last year.
He also mentioned that despite finishing 6th in the table last season, they made early exits from the FA Cup and Carling Cup.
He added: “When you consider the season before when we were out of both cups by January and when I came in we were only four points away from relegation it's not been too bad.”
