http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss, Kenny Dalglish lashed out at his team after their shocking 1-0 defeat against Fulham on Tuesday, and believed that his decision to field second choice players ahead of the FA Cup final was the reason behind the result.
The Merseyside team suffered their first ever defeat at Anfield at the hands of the Cottagers, which kept them at the eighth spot in the league table with just two more games to play.
Dalglish approached the game with the idea of giving an opportunity to most of the players in the squad, before the showpiece FA Cup final against Chelsea on the 5th of May. Even though the Scott justified his decision of resting some of his main
players, he admitted that it had cost him the match.
While talking to reporters, he said: “I'm culpable as well because I changed the players to try and give everybody an opportunity to get in the frame for Saturday so I suppose by doing that that was a contributory factor to what happened.”
The defeat was the Reds second in a row at home, after they also lost 1-0 to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday. It was their fourth home defeat in total and the 13th in the league this season.
However, the 61-year old believed that the result will have no bearings on his side’s performance in the next game against the Blues.
“If we’d have come in here and won 4-0 it wouldn’t have made any difference for Saturday.” he added.
Dalglish also lambasted his side for their poor attitude on the pitch against the Whites. Apart from striker Andy Carroll and the reserve goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Doni-c11553, none of the Liverpool players were able to put up a notable show in the game.
“There were one or two positives but as I say there were too many negatives. If you go into a game with a bad attitude you’re going to get nothing and that’s what we deserve, nothing. It’s not correct to go about your work that way.”
The win also brought Fulham level on points with the Reds, and the latter are now in danger of sliding further down the league table. They will host http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on the 8th of May in a league game and will visit the Liberty Stadium on 13th
to take on Swansea City.
