Former Liverpool manager, Kenny Dalglish, took to Twitter to congratulate Brendan Rodgers on his appointment as the manager of the Anfield outfit and wished the club good fortune in the future.
Dalglish, who returned to manage the club for the second time in his career, parted ways with Liverpool a few days following the end of the 2011/12 Barclays Premier League season, in a decision that came as a surprise to many even though many expected it to happen.
Confused? Well, the reader should be, because the curious case of Kenny Dalglish can be simplified if one was to compare the club’s League form against their form in cup competitions. In the latter, Liverpool only lost one match under his tenure and that too was against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the final of the FA Cup.
On the other hand, the club’s league form was woeful as the second half of the season proved a disaster for the club as they ended up 17 points away from a top four finish. Based on that the club’s management opted to part ways with the Kop icon.
Just before leaving, Dalglish hoped that the fans would support his successor in the same adoring way they did him.
Liverpool recently appointed former Swansea City manager, Brendan Rodgers, in a move that has been termed as a bit of a gamble by everyone outside the club. Dalglish however, has no qualms with the decision and was one of the first to congratulate Rodgers.
Taking to the popular social networking platform, Twitter, Dalglish wrote: “Congratulations to Brendan (Rodgers) and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Good-Luck-c39444 to everyone at LFC. Kenny.”
Rodgers will have plenty to do to convince the footballing world that he can handle a club with the history and calibre of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. The appointment follows Fenway Sports Group’s policy of hiring British talent.
With the manager sorted, the club will now look to the transfer market where there is sure to be some wheeling and dealing as Rodgers will look to bring in the type of players that suit his style of play, while at the same time assessing the talent he already has at his disposal.
