Liverpool manager, Kenny Dalglish admitted that he did not have words to explain the team’s abject capitulation at Loftus Road in the closing stages of their Premier League match.
With fifteen minutes of play left, Liverpool were comfortably placed at 2-0 after Sebastian Coates and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 turned the table on their Merseyside opponents by scoring 3 goals in the
closing stages of the match, to salvage a wonderful victory for the home side.
However, the 61 year old Scot was livid with his team for not holding on to the two goal lead and believed his side should have scored a few goals in the first half.
“I don’t have any answers, what more can I say? We need to find answers and make sure we learn from it.” Said a flabbergasted Dalglish.
Earlier, the Scot had stressed the need for his side to show consistency in their performances. However, a defeat against QPR will surely be irksome for the Reds boss, who is vying to achieve an English domestic cup double by winning the FA Cup. Liverpool
have already won the Carling Cup this season and look to try and win the FA Cup as well.
Before the match, Liverpool were looking to close the gap on Tottenham and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 for a top four finish. However, the defeat at Loftus Road has now kept them out of contention for a place in the Champions League.
“I don’t think anybody saw it [QPR’s comeback] coming. A few of us had a feeling before the game how we would approach it after reaching the [FA Cup] semi-final.” Dalglish said.
The manager believes that Liverpool should have capitalized on the opportunities they got in the first half and assessed that his side could easily have been 4-0 up at the end of the first period. However, he said that luck was not with the Reds and QPR
were fortunate to end up with three points.
“Most of the game we were dominant, creative and professional. They have walked away with three points.” He said.
Dalglish also set aside the notion that his players were guilty of slack defending. Even though the Scot believed that his side should have won three points from the match, he said that QPR need to be given credit for their strong comeback.
“It’s not a lack of concentration; Give them [QPR] a bit of credit too.” He said.
He then went on to admit that the unexpected defeat has created an atmosphere of disappointment in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 dressing room, after the team was unable to get what they deserved.
On the other hand, the QPR boss Mark Hughes, said that a win against Liverpool can be a defining moment for his side as they look to battle out of the relegation zone.
