Dalglish remains calm over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 ban
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 manager Kenny Dalglish says he is not too concerned about the prospect of facing the next three games without Steven Gerrard. The Reds captain is serving a three match ban after he received a straight red card during Liverpool’s F.A Cup clash against
Manchester United last week.
Dalglish though, maintains that he will make do with the resources at hand, rather than worry about the players who are unavailable to him. Speaking on Steven Gerrard’s absence for the next three games, the Liverpool manager said, “Any team which has Steven
Gerrard in it is going to be much better than one without it. But we have to get on with it and the most important people for us are the ones which are available, not the ones who are unavailable because they can't dictate the result of games.”
Steven Gerrard was shown a straight red card by referee Howard Webb after lunging in on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Carrick-c25282 during Sunday’s F.A Cup encounter at Old Trafford. The Liverpool manager said after the game that the sending off was harsh; however, he chose not to
appeal the decision.
The automatic three match ban means that Gerrard will miss Wednesday’s game against Blackpool, and perhaps more importantly, Sunday’s decisive derby against Everton. But the Liverpool manager insists that he is not fazed by the unavailability of his captain.
Dalglish said, “We will concentrate on the ones we do have, without being disrespectful to the ones who are not there. This club has never been about one individual, it has been about a collection and a team and we are a team.”
It remains to be seen how Liverpool fare without their influential captain. The match against Blackpool will be Kenny Dalglish’s first test in the Premier League for almost 20 years. Although he is currently the caretaker manager, the Liverpool legend has
made no secret of his desire to take over in the long term.
A strong finish to the season might just see his reign at the club extended by a few years. Let’s see whether the Scot can strengthen his claim for the manager’s chair when Liverpool travel to Bloomfield road on Wednesday.
