http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss, Kenny Dalglish mentioned that the Reds will go into their final game of the season against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday, in a bid to secure the seventh spot in the league standings.
The Reds are currently placed eighth in the table, and are a point adrift of their Merseyside rivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 who will take on Newcastle United in their closing game of the season.
The Scott urged his side not take their foot off the pedal just yet, after their comprehensive 4-1 win against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the previous game, and revealed that the match against the Welsh outfit carried as much importance in his eyes as any other game.
While talking to reporters, he said: “We've got a desire to go there and win and, as we've said before, we want to do as well as we possibly can in every game we play.”
Even though Liverpool have failed to launch a challenge for a top four finish after losing their way due to a string of poor results since the start of the year, the 61-year old was eager to pick up positives from their topsy-turvy season. The Reds managed
to end their six year title famine by hoisting the Carling Cup trophy in February, and by doing so also booked a place in the next season Europa League competition.
“To win a trophy after six years was a good result for us, to get to the FA Cup final was a good result, and to get into the Europa League is also a measure of success.” He added.
When asked to assess his team’s performance against the Blues in their last game at Anfield, Dalglish went into raptures about their positive response after suffering a disappointing FA Cup final defeat and felt that they deserved a similar kind result in
a lot of their matches this season.
He remarked, “They've played as well as that - if not better - in many games and not had the positive result, so it went very well for us.”
The Scott also praised Brendan Rodgers Swansea City of making an impressive return to the Premier League, and was wary of the fact that they will be a difficult side to beat at their own backyard. He also recounted the Reds last game against the Swans in
the first half of the season at Anfield, which ended in a 0-0 draw, and believed that their current league position which is 12th is not a true illustration of their actual stature.
