The Reds went down 2-1 against the Londoners in the final of the FA Cup on Saturday, and in the process also lost the opportunity to make up for their disappointing form in the league.
However, the Scott felt that it would be only fitting to wrap up their season on a positive note with a win against their FA Cup conquerors at home.
While talking to reporters, he said: “It would be a little bit of solace for the punters who have given us tremendous support throughout the season if we could get a win.”
One of the major downsides of Liverpool’s league campaign this season have been their home form, where they have only managed to win 5 games out of 18 and suffered four defeats.
The 61-year old acknowledged his side’s frailty at home by saying, “Everyone knows the home results haven’t been great this season despite some excellent performances along the way.”
Liverpool will go into the game against the Blues in a bid to avoid further humiliation of finishing behind Fulham and West Bromwich Albion in the table. They are currently lying at the ninth place in the league table with 49 points, and trail the Cottagers
by three points. The Baggies occupy the 10th spot and are only two points adrift of the Reds.
Chelsea on the other hand will be looking to close the gap on 5th ranked Newcastle United to just a single point with a win, in order to stay in contention for a top four finish till the very last day.
Dalglish revealed that he will field his strongest possible unit against Chelsea on Tuesday, and was hopeful that the players would have put the disappointment of their FA Cup defeat behind them by now.
“We will see what we’ve got as a few bumps and bruises may well have cleared by Tuesday morning. We’re not going to give anything away but it will be the strongest team we’ve got from the players available.”
