Dallas Clark out indefinitely with hand injury
Colts' team president Bill Polian has confirmed that Indianapolis Colts tight end Dallas Clark will be out of the lineup indefinitely after suffering an injury to his hand in last Sunday's 27-24 win over the Washington Redskins.
Polian spoke about the injury to Clark on Thursday, October 21 before an audience at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne stating, "He’s got an injury to his wrist, which is a relatively rare injury. He’s visiting a doctor in Cleveland today. He’s
due to come in and talk late this afternoon when he gets back and I get back. I don’t know what the prognosis is. This is not the kind of injury that is very common where our doctors can say 'Hey, look, this is a four-week injury or this is a six-week injury.'
So we'll know more later tonight."
Clark has recently been wearing a brace to support the wrist and the team has supposedly been seeking several medical opinions to determine whether or not Clark will be able to play next game.
Jacob Tamme, in his third year as a pro with the Indianapolis Colts, will take over for Clark as the Colts enter their bye week. They play November 1, when they host the Houston Texans.
Tamme will have some big shoes to fill, as Clark is a major part of the Colts pass offence, which is currently ranked second overall in the NFL.
Clark is currently tied for fourth in the NFL with 37 receptions, but is number one in receiving amongst tight ends.
The 31-year-old, University of Iowa graduate, is in his eighth season with the Colts and has become one of quarterback Peyton Manning's favorite targets over the years. Clark caught 100 passes for 1106 yards last season – both career highs.
