Dallas Cowboys’ Brandon Carr excited about Morris Claiborne’s selection – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys’ defensive back, Brandon Carr, who has recently joined the team after leaving the Kansas City Chiefs, has said that he is excited about the prospects of playing with cornerback, Morris Claiborne, who was selected by the Cowboys during the
2012 National Football League (NFL) draft.
Like every other observer, Carr, too, was initially shocked over Claiborne’s selection.
Cowboys had 14th pick in first round of the draft, but they traded their pick up at sixth spot with the St. Louis Rams to select Claiborne.
The move was rather surprising for everyone and Carr was also stunned. However, he is now looking forward to playing with the rookie.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, he said of Claiborne’s selection:
"Yeah, I didn't see that one coming at all. But you just never know what's going to happen. I'm excited about him being here."
Despite being drafted by the Cowboys, Claiborne did not attend the team’s rookie minicamp last weekend.
Claiborne underwent a surgery in March to treat his wrist and he is still not able to give his best shot. His doctors have advised him against playing at the moment, but he is expected to join the team soon.
Claiborne will participate in the offseason team activities (OTAs) and preseason games to get ready for the regular season in which he is expected to get the starting role.
Carr also thinks that the player has the potential of playing as starter and said:
"Yeah, he's a big corner that can get up there and challenge receivers. That's what you ask for in your cornerbacks nowadays with the big, fast, physical receivers. He doesn't shy away from a challenge and he's a ball-hawk. As I see it, he's pretty much
a complete corner at the collegiate level."
After leaving Kansas City, Carr has not got many opportunities to get to know his teammates in Dallas. He thinks that the OTAs and preseason will help knowing him the players and develop good chemistry with them.
He said:
“I'm ready and set. I'm ready for OTAs to start," Carr said. "Now I can't wait to mix it up with these boys."
